Anti-government protesters wearing orange vests protested on Piazza del Duomo in Milan on Saturday, demanding the removal of the coronavirus restrictions and the resignation of the government followed by elections.
One of the founders of the Orange Vests movement, former Carabinieri General Antonio Pappalardo, addressed the crowd, criticising the government.
"The Italian people are not afraid. The Italian people have the desire to redeem themselves," he said. "[This is] the end of this government of arrogant people. The end of this government."
Protesters also demanded the approval of a new electoral law, exit from the eurozone and tighter migration controls.
