Talks between Greece and its international creditors are still possible, but at the moment there is no "premise for starting negotiations for a new aid programme," spokesperson for the German government Steffen Seibert said at a press conference in Berlin, Monday. He added that members of the eurozone are waiting for a Greek proposal after the Greek population voted 'no' to the creditors' bailout proposal. Martin Jaeger, spokesperson of German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble, added that a debt reduction remains impossible for Germany. The referendum saw 61.3 percent of registered voters opting for 'No' on the bailout terms proposed by foreign creditors compared to the 38.7 percent who voted 'Yes.' The governing Syriza party campaigned for a 'No' in the referendum after rejecting the bailout terms of the so-called 'troika' - the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the European Central Bank (ECB) and the European Commission (EC). Greek Minister of Finance Yanis Varoufakis announced his resignation on Monday morning. A Eurogroup meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, July 8.
