Visitors to a Christmas market in London reacted to an increase in police presence at the festive plaza on Thursday, claiming that they felt reassured by the level of security.
"There is a really strong police presence, I think that there is a real awareness of the risks of attacks, but people are still going about their business and enjoying themselves and feeling confident," said one of the visitors.
Another resident noted: "I know there are a lot of officers around, no one seems to be stressed at all, it's just a relaxed vibe, and everyone is enjoying Christmas festivities. I feel completely secure."
Extra security measures have been put in place at Christmas markets across Europe, with police officers patrolling the areas and visitors being stopped for bag searches on the way in.
The move came after a gunman opened fire near Strasbourg's famous Christmas market on Tuesday, leaving three people dead and a dozen more injured.
