01.11.2015
An empty school building that was reportedly going to be used to house refugees was set on fire in the municipality of Grambow in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, in the early hours of Friday morning. Nobody was reported injured. According to local Fire Department, the fire started on the roof of the building early in the morning. At least seven firefighter teams were deployed to the scene. The building was used as a school until 2003 and since then was on sale. According to some reports, the local authorities planned to restore the two-storey building into a refugee and migrant centre. Police have not yet declared whether the fire was the result of arson, however a series of attacks against refugee shelters have taken place across Germany in recent months. The investigation has already been launched.
