Mourners protested in front of the Ukrainian embassy in Athens, Monday, marking the two year anniversary of the Odessa massacre, where 48 people lost their lives during a fire at the Trades Union House in the city.
The protesters held banners, balloons and graphic pictures from the deadly tragedy.
"We are here, to say no and stop to fascism in Ukraine, because if this does not eat up the Ukrainian state itself, it will spread all over Europe," said Marcos Iliadis, one of the organisers of the protest.
Forty-eight people died, with over 200 injured, in a series of events that led to a large blaze ripping through the Trade Union building in Odessa on May 2, 2014. After clashes erupted between anti-Maidan and pro-Maidan protesters, the latter group reportedly set fire to the Trade Unions House where anti-Maidan demonstrators had found refuge.
Despite international concerns and calls to investigate the tragedy, the perpetrators of the 2014 Odessa massacre have yet to be caught or prosecuted.
