China: South Korea, China need to get ties 'back on track' says Xi

Chinese President Xi Jinping met with his South Korean counterpart Park Geun-hye on Monday, on the sidelines of this year's G20 summit in Hangzhou.
It was the first time that the leaders had met since Seoul decided to deploy a US-developed anti-missile system, in reaction to North Korea's increase in missile launches and nuclear tests. China has perceived the deployment of the system as a threat to its security.
Xi talked about "growing instability" on the Korean Peninsula and said that China and South Korea should "cherish the foundation of our cooperation". He stressed the importance of "bringing our relations back on the right track" in order to "promote peace and development in the region:.
Earlier in the day, Xi Jinping met with US President Barack Obama and discussed North Korea's missile program.
