Georgia: Pres. Margvelashvili welcomes US, UK military as joint drills kick off

The Georgian army began two weeks of joint military drills with the United States and Britain near at Vaziani Military Base near Tbilisi, Wednesday, with Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili opening the exercises.
Margvelashvili opened the drills by saying, "you are standing all together with men and women of the Georgian army, who are defending our statehood, who are defending our nation at the battlefields all around the world. We are happy to host you here."
More than 1,000 troops from the three countries will take part in ‘Noble Partner’ exercises. Eight M1A2 Abrams tanks provided by the US participated in the drills, ferried to Georgia from Bulgaria together with Bradley infantry fighting vehicles for the occasion. The drills are scheduled to last until May 26.
