Russian President Vladimir Putin and Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev met in Moscow, Sunday, on the eve of the official Victory Day 2016 celebrations.
Putin thanked Nazarbayev for visiting Russia ahead of the parade that will mark the 71st anniversary of Soviet Victory in World War II. "This is the sign of our special relations and of our friendly relations. This is a pleasure for us and we would like to thank you for this," said Putin.
Nazarbayev spoke about his admiration for the Vostochny Cosmodrome project. "I came here to congratulate you with huge scientific and technological Russia’s success, the launch from Vostochny Cosmodrome. This is the super-modern cosmodrome. Today there are not many states that could afford it. You did it, you made history for Russia," Nazarbayev said.
On April 28 a Russian Soyuz-2.1a rocket was successfully launched from the Vostochny Cosmodrome in what was the first launch from the venue.
