Thousands of women's rights activists took to streets of La Plata on Sunday, to voice their disagreement with strict abortion rules and denounce violence against women. The official march was organised on the sidelines of the 34th National Meeting of Women, a massive three-day event where women from all over the country claimed for their rights.
Footage shows women marching while carrying banners and flags, and playing drums.
Several dozens of more radical leftist activists protested outside the Catedral de La Plata (La Plata Cathedral) over the night, throwing projectiles into police barricades, writing graffiti and dancing around a fire.
Abortion is currently illegal in Argentina, except in cases of rape or when the life or health of the mother is at risk.
In August 2018, Argentina's Senate narrowly rejected a bill that would have allowed women to have abortions in the first 14 weeks of pregnancy.
