04.10.2015
Tens of thousands of protesters marched on the Conservative Party's annual conference in Manchester to protest against the government's austerity measures, Sunday. The Trades Union Congress (TUC) estimates that at least 60,000 took part in the march in central Manchester. The Anti-Tory, anti-austerity march was organised by The People's Assembly Against Austerity. The protesters carried pig figurines as well as placards reading "Migrants in, Tories out" and "Pig brother is watching you" while chanting slogans against austerity measures. Today's protest is part of a week of action against austerity and public spending cuts as well a TUC campaign against the Trade Union Bill, which will make it harder for workers to strike.
