20.10.2016
The international funeral exhibition, Necropolis-Tanexpo 2016 opened its doors in Moscow on Wednesday. Funeral professionals from around the globe showed their wares including horse-drawn hearses, mourning attire and different styled coffins.
One particularly high end option included a gold leaf sarcophagus-shaped Tutankhamun casket valued at 1 million roubles (14,500 euros). There was also a fashion show of avant garde mourning attire presented by the the Russian Art Academy and Artistic Union of Russian Artists as part of the Peace-War project.
Project curator Isabella Rim termed the show a “protest against violent death” claiming that “death should be natural” and condemning “what is going on in Syria, Ukraine and in other countries.”
The three day Necropolis-Tanexpo has gathered funeral companies from all over the world annually since 1992.
