22.08.2015
Scuffles broke out between protesters and police in Charlotte, North Carolina on Friday after a judge declared a mistrial in the officer-involved shooting case of unarmed black male Jonathan Ferrell in 2013. Some protesters gathered at the Charlotte Transportation Centre, confronting riot police. After scuffles broke out, one protester was reportedly arrested. No further details have been released by the protest group or authorities. Ferrell crashed his car on September 14, 2013, and was reportedly forced to crawl from the back window of the vehicle and seek help from a home in the area. When the homeowner, Sarah McCartney, saw Ferrell knocking on her front door she called law enforcement. Officer Randall "Wes" Kerrick arrived at the scene, shooting the already injured Ferrell at least 10 times. With the jury at a deadlock, prosecutors must now decide whether to press on with charges and demand a re-trial.
