Chinese and Russian navy continued their joint eight day naval exercises named "Joint Sea 2016" in Zhanjiang in South China's Guangdong Province, Tuesday. The training is designed to increase and test the forces ability in emergency situations.
The servicemen were presented with two of the most dangerous scenarios possible at sea, a fire on board a vessel and a ruptured hull. During the drills the conditions were brought as close to reality as possible. The trainees subsequently succeeded to bring under control.
The drills are being conducted in the South China Sea and include naval surface ships, submarines, fixed-wing aircraft, ship-borne helicopters, Marine Corps, and amphibious armoured equipment from both navies.
The joint exercises are the fifth of their kind since 2012, but are the first to be held in the South China Sea. The joint exercises concede with the start of "Valiant Shield 2016" a United States naval drill in the Western Asia-Pacific.
