20.02.2016
The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces took the town of Al-Shadadi in Hasakeh province from the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS; formerly ISIS/ISIL), on Friday. They managed this feat after a three-day offensive, in which they aided by US-led air strikes.
Al-Shadadi, in northeastern Syria, was reportedly a strategically significant IS stronghold. The Syrian Democratic Forces, who are looking to isolate IS, have captured many villages and rural areas from their enemy in the past few weeks.
The footage shows Kurdish forces fighting in the outskirts of the city.
