28.07.2016
US President Barack Obama put his support behind Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton during his speech at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia, Wednesday.
During his address, Obama praised Clinton saying "there has never been a man or a woman more qualified than Hillary Clinton to serve as President of the United States of America."
Commenting on Donald Trump, Obama assured that the American "greatness" does not depend on the Republican hopeful, while urging voters to vote for Clinton rather than to boo at Trump.
Hillary Clinton became the first female Democratic presidential nominee after Bernie Sanders moved to suspend the Democratic National Convention's procedural rules in order to nominate his intraparty rival.
Clinton secured 2,842 delegates during the roll call, with 2,382 votes needed to clinch the nomination.
The 2016 Democratic National Convention is held at the Philadelphia's Wells Fargo Centre and is expected to welcome 4,765 Democratic delegates.
