Russia's Chairwoman of the Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko laid flowers and offered her condolences to the victims of Fridays terrorist attacks in Paris, outside the French embassy in Moscow, Saturday. After laying flowers she stated that it is time to "throw off all disguise and to openly speak about those countries and people who financially support terrorism, who supply it with arms". Along with fellow Muscovites who gathered in large numbers to pay their respects, Matviyenko said "I would like to express condolences to the families of those killed and injured in this tragedy. All of us are deeply shocked." She went on to say that "It is necessary to set up the stern penalty measures within the UN for those who are doing this" and that it "seems to me that today the most dire threat to the world is terrorism." At least 128 people were killed and more than 200 left injured after a series of coordinated attacks were carried out at six different locations across Paris on Friday evening. Eighty-seven people were killed after gunmen opened fire during a concert at the Bataclan theatre, taking dozens hostage before detonating suicide bombs. The so-called Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) have taken responsibility for the attacks.
