The world's largest nuclear-powered icebreaker '50 Years of Victory' left the port of Murmansk for its first journey to North Pole, Thursday, kicking off the summer season for Arctic cruises. The journey is set to run 12 days, carrying around 100 adventurous tourists to the pole and back. Tickets were sold for prices ranging from $25,000 (€22,000) to almost $40,000 (€35,500). Despite the ship being capable of carving its way through ice of densities of up to 2.5 meters (8.2 ft), its primary duties will be required starting from August, when transit cruises across the entire Arctic are due to begin.
