Hundreds of people, many wearing masks of US President Barack Obama and Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe marched through the city of Tsu in Japan's Mie Prefecture on Thursday, to protest against the recently started G7 summit and forthcoming visit of US President Barack Obama to Hiroshima.
On Friday, Barack Obama will become the first sitting US president to visit Hiroshima's 'ground zero,' where he will be accompanied by Shinzo Abe. In April, John Kerry became the first US secretary of state to visit Hiroshima, more than 70 years after the city was devastated in the world's first nuclear attack.
The heads of state of the G7 nations - Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the UK and the US - gathered in the nearby city of Ise-Shima, Mie Prefecture for a two-day summit that kicked off earlier on Thursday.
Growing uncertainty in the global economy is expected to top the agenda at the 'Group of Seven' summit. As well as this, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe announced prior to the summit that he hopes to discuss the situation in the Asia-Pacific region with the other G7 members.
