Giant swarms of locusts descended on Jaipur on Monday.
The insects were seen flooding the sky over the city's rooftops. Locals could be heard banging pots, in an attempts to ward off the locusts.
The attack was characterised as the worst locust plague in the last 27 years in western and central India, and reports indicate that crops were severely damaged in farms already suffering from the COVID-19 lockdown.
Agrotechnical machines were sent to farms to deploy insecticides in an attempt to save at least part of the crops. Around 50,000 hectares (125,000 acres) of land have already been destroyed, local authorities say.
