Hundreds of people took to the streets of Libyan capital Tripoli on Friday, to protest against the upcoming National Conference scheduled in the city of Ghadames next April.
Protesters chanted slogans against UN envoy for Libya Ghassan Salame, who will lead the summit in an effort to find a way out of the eight-year old conflict in the North African country.
""We expect a bad result from the National Conference. Also the people invited to the conference. They are unknown to the people. Are they representatives of all parties or not? We believe that the conference will not succeed," said a political activist.
The UN-sponsored conference will run from April 14 to April 16 and seeks to formalise details for long-awaited elections in the country.
