The US track and field athletes Christian Taylor, Will Claye and pole vaulter Sam Kendricks gave a joint press conference at the Olympic Park's Media Press centre, Tuesday, following the men's triple jump and pole vault final.
Talyor, who came back to professional sports recently after a recovering from a serious injury, gained his second gold medal in the triple jump finals, making him the first US repeat champion in the sport since 1976. His team mate Will Clay took the silver medal.
US pole vaulter Sam Kendricks commented on the incident that occurred during the pole vaulting competition, in which he took the bronze, after French athlete Renaud Lavillenie was booed by the Rio crowd. Both Kendricks and Lavillenie were competing with the Brazilian pole vaulter Thiago Braz da Silva.
In Kendricks' opinion, Brazilians are "are very connection driven, and it's also a football oriented country" and they booed the athlete "because they realised that Renaud really had a chance of making it". Lavillenie took the silver medal and Braz da Silva became a golden Olympic champion.
