An anonymous engineer has claimed that the missing Nazi World War II-era 'gold train' is in a mineshaft between the Russian cities of Smolensk and Vyazma, his Berlin-based lawyer Michail Kantor said from the German capital on Tuesday. The claims contradict those of Polish Deputy Culture Minister Piotr Zuchowski, who recently announced that a ground-penetrating radar recently picked up images of the armoured World War II-era train buried near Walbrzych in Poland. While Zuchowski went on to say he is 99 percent sure the train is located near the Polish city, Kantor claims his client has been searching for the train for "several years" with the "help of modern geological equipment." He added that he has offered highly "precise" information to the embassy of the Russian Federation. The so-called Nazi gold train is believed to have been hidden in the earth beneath a tunnel near Ksiaz Castle by the Nazis during their retreat from Poland in 1945. It is believed to have up to 300 tonnes of gold could be on board in addition to diamonds and gemstones.
