France: Anti-Uber protesters shutdown Lyon

Protesters taxi-drivers rallying against the against Uber, the app-based ride service, scuffled with police in Lyon, Thursday. Hundreds took to the streets driving slowly in their cars, blocking traffic. The protest is part of a nationwide movement, with similar protests occurring in Paris and Marseille, where taxi drivers organised by their union blocked access to the cities airports and railway stations. The San Francisco based company, Uber, is already opposed by the French Government, though they have yet to take action against the company which uses unlicensed taxi drivers. Uber was founded in March 2009 by American Travis Cordell Kalanick. As of May 2015, Uber taxis were available in in 58 countries and 300 cities worldwide.
