24.05.2016
A group of students broke into Chile's presidential palace in Santiago on Tuesday, to protest against the government's education policies. The students entered the entrance of the Palacio de La Moneda disguised as tourists, before unfurling a banner saying "today starts the offensive."
According to the protesters, the Chilean President Michel Bachelet only caters for entrepreneurs, politicians and other members of the elite. The students were evicted from the spot, with police reportedly arresting around 30 of them.
The organisation which called the action, the Coordinating Assembly of Secondary Students (ACES), claimed that the police injured many of the protesters, and that they were not given medical assistance. Meanwhile, outside of the palace, a group of students shouted slogans in favour of the student movement.
