Police broke up a protest of environmentalists near Rommeskirchen on Monday. Footage shows activists being removed from a railway vehicle after offering passive resistance. They were part of a larger group protesting near the Neurath Power Station over the weekend.
The rally was organised by the civil disobedience protest group Ende Gelande. Hundreds of protesters have been blocking the tracks used for transporting coal since Friday.
On Saturday, hundreds of activists broke through police lines and ran towards the Garzweiler open-pit mine in North Rhine-Westphalia to protest lignite mining at the site
