At least two civilians were killed and several injured in the village of Maryamayn near Afrin in Aleppo governorate, Sunday, following reports of renewed shelling by Turkish artillery. The civilian targets are under control of Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG). Turkish Minister Ahmet Davutoglu informed German Chancellor Angela Merkel earlier on Sunday that Turkey would continue to target Kurdish militias in Syria.
Turkish artillery are reportedly targetting villages and regions in the Aleppo governorate and the northern villages of Afrin province, with dozens of civilians, including children, left injured in the area.
The shelling allegedly started on Saturday, targetting areas under Kurdish control, specifically areas around Menagh and Azaz where anti-government forces, including miltiants from the Al-Nusra Front and the so-called Islamic State (IS; formerly ISIS, ISIL) are fighting against YPG.
