19.08.2016
Russian President Vladimir Putin met Prime Minister Dmitri Medvedev in Sevastopol, Friday, where they discussed the appointment of a new Minister of Education. Putin gave his consent to Medvedev's proposal to appoint Olga Vasilieva, who had previously led Russia's Department for Public Projects.
In the meeting, Medvedev noted "we need new approaches and new responsibilities, and in some cases - new people," adding that Vasilieva has "a good service record." Her predecessor, Dmitri Livanov, was reassigned to the role of Special Presidential Envoy for trade and economic relations with Ukraine.
Putin praised Livanov's work, describing Livanov as a "man of character who is consistent in the implementation of his decisions and decisions of the government." Russian President also remarked that he believes Livanov's personal business skills will "help construct and revive our economic relations with the neighbouring country."
The meeting was held upon Putin's arrival to Crimea where he is due to meet with the members of Russia's Security Council and visit the Children's Camp Tavrida.
