26.05.2016
Thousands of protesters marched to Plaza de Mayo in Buenos Aires, Thursday, railing at recent cuts imposed by the newly elected government of Argentinian President Mauricio Macri, as well as the decision to limit celebrations for Argentina's May Revolution.
Demonstrators banged pots and pans to display their dissatisfaction with the new government after authorities decided to amend the agenda for the May celebrations, festivities which honour the revolution from May 18 to 25, 1810 that led to the Argentinian War of Independence.
Macri was reportedly unable to celebrate with citizens at Plaza de Mayo, and put heavy limits on the public marches which are usually organised by the state. As Macri's popularity ratings have dropped by 22 percent according to recent polls, regular protests against the new president's policies have coincided with the celebrations.
