A reconciliation agreement was signed at a ceremony in the village of al-Samra in the Hama Province on Tuesday at which militants handed over their weapons.
Fighters gave their weapons to representatives of the Syrian government and were able to return to their civilian lives.
After the document was signed, residents of the area received humanitarian aid delivered by Russian soldiers. Locals received packages with canned food, sugar, flour and tea.
Russia and the US announced an agreement on a ceasefire in Syria on February 22, which the UN Security Council unanimously adopted. Resolution 2268, which approves a Russian-American joint statement declaring a cessation of hostilities, came into effect on February 27. The ceasefire does not apply to the self-proclaimed Islamic State, the al-Nusra Front and other groups considered to be terrorist organisations by the signatories.
