A promotional campaign to popularise military service was held in Sevastopol on Sunday, with similar events having already attracted at least 2,000 men from the city and neighbouring Simferopol to sign up to the military. The latest military equipment - including air defence missile systems, anti-ship complexes "Bastion", and remote-operated motorised robots - were on display for army enthusiasts at the city's Nakhimov square. In addition, members of Russia's Special Forces were on hand to demonstrate the latest sniper models to intrigued spectators. The younger visitors of the exhibition were mostly interested in its larger equipment, huddling around tanks, armoured personnel carriers and the electronic warfare station. Long queues piled up to in front of several ships from the Black Sea Fleet, currently moored at Sevastopol's Passenger Terminal.
