Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe called for a strong response from the international community to North Korea's nuclear program, during a press conference at National Hotel in Havana, on Friday.
"North Korea has become a threat of a different level rather than a conventional threat. Facing this new threat and explicit incitement from North Korea, the international community must unite to deal strongly with this issue," he stated.
Speaking on bilateral relations between Japan and Cuba, Abe said that together with Cuban President Raul Castro they have agreed to expand economic ties and "to work together to meet the challenges of international society."
Abe is the first Japanese leader to visit Communist-Cuba. He flew into Havana from New York where he had participated in the 71st United Nations General Assembly.
