Russian President Vladimir Putin held a meeting with his Mozambique counterpart Filipe Nyusi in Moscow on Thursday.
“We are ready for the development of the relations between our countries on all fronts. I am sure that your visit, dear Mr. President, will be a good impetus to the development of our intergovernmental relations,” said Putin.
Nyusi on his part thanked Putin for Russia's support to Mozambique in the aftermath of the disastrous cyclones earlier this year in the southern African nation.
"I would like to thank you for the financial and mental support which you provide us with in recent days with regard to these cyclones that have wrought devastation over our country. We would like to thank all Russian people through you," said the president.
More than half a million people in Mozambique are still living in homes damaged by the cyclones Idai and Kenneth, which swept through the country in March and April, according to the International Organisation for Migration.
