Additional Russian bomb disposal experts prepared to fly from Chkalovsky Airport, Moscow Region, to Syria to take part in in the mine clearance of Palmyra, Wednesday.
Footage captured sappers accompanied by sniffer dogs waiting to board the plane, while equipment and military trucks were loaded on the Ilyushin Il-76 transport plane.
According to plan, the team will first fly to Hmeymim air base in Latakia before making the 300 kilometre (186 mile) journey to the ancient city that was reportedly liberated on Sunday from the so-called Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ ISIL).
The deployment comes after the Defence Ministry in Moscow said it will deploy "all necessary equipment" to assist in clearing Palmyra of improvised explosive devices before beginning the restoration work.
Palmyra was recaptured over the weekend by the Syrian Arab Army but IS militants had mined a numbers of areas and buildings before retreating.
Palmyra is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, formerly known for housing some of the best-preserved monuments of antiquity anywhere in the world. After capturing the city, IS militants blew up part of the 2,000-year-old Temple of Bel, and the Arch of Triumph, and have used the Roman-era amphitheater for filmed public executions. The UN's cultural agency described the group's archaeological demolishing as a "war crime."
