Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe arrived for a one-day visit to Dushanbe to meet with his Tajik counterpart Emomali Rahmon, Saturday, both heads of states signing partnership documents. Rahmon gave a speech following the talks with the Japanese prime minister, saying that the parties had noted that bilateral relations between Tajikistan and Japan were of a friendly nature and for the benefit of both countries. "We will try to strengthen the relationship between the two countries," he added. The two delegations discussed topics including cooperation in agriculture as well as controlling borders to prevent narcotics flowing into Tajikistan from neighbouring Afghanistan. Abe arrived in Tajikistan from Turkmenistan earlier Saturday. He is scheduled to visit Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan over the following week.
