USA: ‘Apprentice’ contestant takes Trump to court in defamation case

06.12.2017
Summer Zervos, a former contestant on the reality TV show 'The Apprentice' arrived at New York Country Criminal Court after she accused the show's former host, US President Donald Trump, of sexually harassing her during her stint on the show in New York City on Tuesday.
A judge is set to hear arguments over whether a defamation lawsuit against the President should be thrown out after Zervos accused him of unwanted sexual contact and Trump responded by saying the claims were 'made up.'
Women's rights attorney and Zervos's lawyer Gloria Allred commented on the hearing by calling the judge "very thoughtful" and "well prepared."
Trump's lawyers claim the case has no basis since he is protected by the US constitution from being sued in a state court while holding office.
Around a dozen women have publicly accused the President of sexual harassment, claims which Trump firmly denies.
