SOT, Audience member (English): "He's gone."
SOT, Angela Eagle, British MP (English): "Michael Crick?"
SOT, Audience member (English): "Who? Who?" [Laughter]
British Labour party MP Angela Eagle marked the launching of her bid for party leadership with an awkward moment in Manchester, Monday, holding a press conference at which she gave a speech and fielded questions.
Footage filmed after the speech appears to show Labour MP Angela Eagle struggling to find journalists to ask her questions. Eagle starts off with a request for a question from the BBC which is met by laughter, followed by silence.
Eagle then asked for a question from ITV News political editor Robert Peston, to which an audience member responds "He's gone." The candidate for Labour party leadership then asked for BBC journalist Michael Crick, before another audience member responds with "Who? Who?"
Eagle's leadership challenge comes following a period of failed internal negotiations within the Labour party. Current Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has said that he will stand for re-election if a leadership contest was triggered.
