Dozens of people marched through the streets of Marseille on Sunday to pay tribute to Zineb Redouane, an 80-year-old woman who died last December after being hit by a tear gas grenade that was reportedly fired by the police during a 'Yellow Vest' demonstration.
The rally attendees carried balloons and banner reading "Justice for Zineb."
"We have come here to pay tribute to Zineb [Redouane] who got hit by a flash ball [tear gas grenade] in Marseille on December 1, and on December 2 she died after what had happened," said one rally attendee.
Zineb Redouane's daughter, Milfet Redouane, demanded to "know the truth and do her justice," noting, "We don't understand why nine months later this police officer has not been identified?"
Similar rallies in tribute to Zineb Redouane were held across France, including Paris, Lyon, Bordeaux and Avignon.
Redouane died in December, 2018, after being injured by the tear gas grenade that had been fired into her flat during the 'Yellow Vest' protest. The injured woman was taken to a local hospital, where she died.
