Russian paratroopers took part in drills in Pskov, on Wednesday using the latest equipment, machines and weapons available to the Russian Army. Troops tried out the new ‘Ratnik’ infantry combat system as well as the new automated ‘Andromeda-D’ communication system.
Soldiers wearing the new ‘Ratnik’ system performed a quick march overcoming obstacles while using automatic machine guns and smoke grenades. The ‘Ratnik’ system has been put in place in a bid to improve communications and effectiveness of Russia’s armed forces. Modernised body armour, a helmet with a special, thermal eye monitoring system and special headphones are among the 40 new items available to troops.
Servicemen also worked out how to use masks for conducting reconnaissance on the ground and during the battle. Military vehicles including armoured personnel carriers and infantry fighting vehicles were also involved in the training exercises.
