German government spokesperson Steffen Seibert commented on disappearance of Saudi Arabian journalist Jamal Khashoggi while speaking at a press conference in Berlin on Monday.
"We need very clear evidence from both sides, with the full involvement of Saudi Arabia, that Mr. Khashoggi's fate has been credibly investigated," Seibert said.
He later stressed the difference between Khashoggi's disappearance and the Skripal case, noting the further progress of the Skripal investigation, and the need for a full enquiry before considering further actions.
Khashoggi, a journalist for the Washington Post and prominent critic of Saudi crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman, was last seen entering the Saudi consulate in Ankara. Turkey claims he was killed by Saudi intelligence officers, while Riyadh emphatically denied the allegations.
Seibert also commented on the Brexit negotiations which took place over the weekend, saying that Great Britain's withdrawal "without a deal wouldn't be in either German or European or British interests."
