11.11.2015
Thousands of nationalist demonstrators marched through the streets of Warsaw, as Poland celebrated its Independence Day on Wednesday. The march has turned violent in previous years, with clashes between police and nationalists a frequent occurrence. Several small moments of agitation were observed at this year's march. According to police sources some 40,000 people took to the streets of the Polish capital this year. Organisers of the march believe that 100,000 people marched through Warsaw. Running since 2008, the march is organized by groups such as National Radical Camp (Oboz Narodowo-Radykalny) and All-Polish Youth (Mlodziez Wszechpolska) and falls on the same day as the anniversary of Poland's independence in 1918, after more than a century of partitions by Austria-Hungary, Germany and Russia.
