Protesters clashed with police at a demonstration held to mark the anniversary of a massacre of students, in Mexico City on Saturday. Over 20,000 people marched through the streets of the historic centre, converging on Zocalo, the largest square in Mexico City. A group of hooded protesters sprayed graffiti and smashed several windows as they made their way towards Zocalo. They clashed with riot police in the city centre, throwing explosive devices and other projectiles. At least six police officers sustained burns as a result of the clashes. The protesters were commemorating the death of an estimated 30 to 300 students and civilians, who were killed by state security forces at Mexico City's Plaza de las Tres Culturas on October 2, 1968 in what became known as the 'Tlatelolco massacre.'
