Italy: CityJet updates fleet with Russian Sukhoi in $1 billion deal

Sukhoi Civil Aircraft Company and SuperJet International celebrated the delivery of a Sukhoi Superjet 100 to their first European customer CityJet, at a ceremony in Venice on Tuesday.
Irish airline CityJet are set to receive 15 Sukhoi jets, with an option for an additional 16 in the upcoming future. It is expected that the airline will receive 3 aircrafts by the end of the year. It is estimated that the deal is worth over 1 Billion USD (897 million Euros).
The Sukhoi Superjet 100 is a modern fly-by-wire twin-engine regional jet with room for 116 people on board. Its first flight was carried out on 19 May 2008. Designed to compete internationally, the Superjet 100 claims substantially lower operating costs. The aircraft is marketed internationally by the Italian-Russian SuperJet International joint venture.
