Russian Defence Ministry spokesperson Igor Konashenkov confirmed that 86 Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS, ISIL) targets had been hit in the latest round of Russian airstrikes during a press conference from the Ministry of Defence in Moscow, Tuesday. "During the last 24 hours Su-34, Su-24M and Su-25SM aircraft conducted 88 flights and hit 86 ISIL infrastructural targets in the Governates of Raqqah, Hama, Idlib, Latakia and Aleppo," Konashenkov said, adding that the Russian Air Force has "intensified" airstrikes on the IS "command centres," "material and storage deports." Following the attacks Konashenkov stated that Russian authorities received the information which "confirms" that "terrorist" groups are "moving to the east and north-east from the front line." Moreover, militants "severely lack" for ammunition. "Several field commanders are demanding from their leaders that if supplies are not replenished, they will withdraw their units from the combat zone," he added. Russia began conducting airstrikes against IS positions in Syria on September 30, after the Syrian government officially requested Russian aid.
