Dozens of demonstrators took part in 'March of empty wheelchairs' in Buenos Aires on Wednesday, protesting against the healthcare cuts, including cuts from disability payments.
The protesters were seen wearing t-shirts with the slogan "No to cuts in the disabled sector" and marching with empty wheelchairs across Plaza de Mayo, where a big inflatable wheelchair was placed.
"The problem that exists in Argentina concerning the disabled is that the current government is delaying the payments and cancels the benefits to the institutions that provide therapies," explained a healthcare worker who joined the protest.
Another protester, a mother of a disabled person, said: "Several demonstrations were already held and several notes were presented to the government. The response wasn't big. They are not interested in the sick or the disabled."
According to reports, next year's budget will see a cut of 91 percent of the resources the government invests in healthcare.
