Around 2,000 Serbian Muslims gathered in the city of Novi Pazar on Sunday for a demonstration condemning the failed coup which took place in Turkey last month.
The event was organised to coincide with a mass rally in Istanbul attended by millions, which united supporters of President Recep Erdogan as well as opposition parties in defence of democracy. Attendees watched a live feed of the event in Istanbul, before prayers were said.
A section of the Turkish military attempted to seize power on the evening of July 15, but the coup was defeated by loyalists in the military and citizens in the streets. Ankara has blamed US-based cleric and businessman Fethullah Gulen of plotting the coup.
