Japan: First US-Japan joint military drills since MV-22 Osprey crash

A joint US-Japan military drill, involving US marines and soldiers of the Japan Ground Self Defence Force (JGSDF), was conducted for the first time since the US MV-22 Osprey aircraft crash, at the JGSDF Camp Soumagahara, Gunma Prefecture.
The US Marine Corps Osprey aircraft, which crash landed off the shores of Onkinawa on 13 December, was the focal point of the drill.
The US military presence in Japan exceeds 100,000 troops, with about half of the soldiers residing in Okinawa, according to US Forces Japan.
