SOT, British Citizen (English): "Hear the noise." Flowers were being placed down in tribute to the 39 victims of the Tunisia Imperial Marhaba Hotel attack, in Sousse Saturday. A British couple, who witnessed the attack, expressed their condolences with regard to the effect the attack will have on Tunisian people's livelihoods. At least 39 people were killed - including British, Belgian and German tourists - and 36 left injured when a gunman opened fire on a beach near the Imperial Marhaba hotel in the Tunisian resort town of Sousse, on Friday. Tunisian officials stated that security forces shot and killed the gunman, identified as 23-year-old Saifeddine Rezgui, who was not known to authorities prior to the attack. During the attack, Rezgui, a student at Kairouan University, reportedly pulled a Kalashnikov assault rifle from a beach umbrella and started firing at groups of tourists who were relaxing on the beach. The majority of the people killed in the shooting are said to be British. At this stage British Foreign Office has said there 15 British nationals dead, but warned the number may rise. Authorities are treating the shooting as an act of terrorism. The Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS, ISIL) militant group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
