SOT, Journalist (English): "And you're surprised that this security breach happened?"
SOT, Anuch, Student (English): "Yeah yeah, a lot. Security breach in this parliament, a big thing. Very big thing."
SOT, Journalist (English): "And do you think that the police could have done more to prevent this?"
SOT, Anuch, Student (English): "There's always a breach in security, no matter how tight it is. So, I hope it just doesn't happen again."
SOT, Journalist (English): "And what was the reaction?"
SOT, Bypasser (English): "Well, I looked into it and I was shocked as the story unfolded throughout the late afternoon, it's the early evening, it just got worse and worse. So it's been confirmed now that a police officer has died as well, which is tragic. My thoughts go to the Metropolitan police and the bravery that they must have put themselves through to stop that man."
Tourists and residents of London recounted the moment they found out about the deadly attack in Westminster on Wednesday. The incident left five people dead and a further 20 injured in what is being described as a terror attack by authorities.
Anuch, a student, said "It was shocking because this is the most secured area in whole UK, I think. Every day there is a lot of police presence here and this happened, a most shocking thing."
Desmond Fitzgerald, a tourist from Boston, said "Phones were just blowing up, you know, everybody's calling us saying 'Okay okay okay'. And I already had a little general feeling of like, 'ah, this would be kind of a place I could see something, sort of crazy happening', because we live in Boston, we're from Boston, we were there for the marathon bombs and saw that. You know, saw that, we were there for that and could see something like that happening. Just thank God we weren't here. But, we're just overall feeling stressed out, kind of scared, and just wow."
During the incident, a police officer was stabbed outside the Houses of Parliament and a car reportedly driven into a crowd of people on Westminster Bridge. Five people were killed in total, including the attacker who was reportedly shot dead.
Authorities believe there was only one attacker.
