26.11.2016
Around 100,000 people took to the streets in Rome on Saturday, protesting against gender violence.
The protesters gathered at the Piazza della Repubblica from where they marched to Piazza San Giovanni, carrying banners and placards stating their cause. They condemned violence against women and demanded more funding for women's shelters.
Participants see the protest as a beginning of an ongoing process with the aim of creating a national anti-violence plan. On November 27 more than 1,000 women are planning to attend a plenary assembly in Rome.
