A herd of 30 goats was hired by the historic Congressional Cemetery of Washington DC to mow the grass in the wooded area surrounding the graveyard, Wednesday. The goats will be clearing the 1.6 acres of the cemetery of vines and invasive species that grow around the trees for the next two weeks, "working" in 24 hour a day shifts. The herd of "Browsing green Goats" comes from the rural community of Sunderland, in the state of Maryland. It will cost the cemetery around $5,000 (EUR4,577), much less than the labour rate of qualified human gardeners. The Congressional Cemetery or Washington is a historic and active cemetery located in Washington, D.C. It was founded before the American Civil War, in 1861. Over 65,000 individuals are buried or memorialized at the cemetery.
